Unit 9 Blogging

Hello Everyone,
It has been quite a challenging course (CM229), but I have learned alot of useful information that I will continue to use in my future writings. I have found the Paramedic Method to be the most useful technique for the revision and editing processes. By highlighting the verbs and prepositions allowed me to decrease the unnecessary wordiness, which was the area needing the most attention. I realized that my sentences were easier to read, thus smoother, overall. I definately needed a refresher on prepositions and verbs for it had been twenty years since I had been in college. Overall, I feel that I am definately a better writer because of what I have learned during CM229.
Jeremy--
Your seminars were the most enjoyable and informative out of any of the courses I have taken since I have been attending Kaplan University. I wanted to extend my sincere gratitude for being a part of your writing class.
Also, I will definately continue writing in my blog after this course. It has been a great way for me to "communicate" my thoughts easier without getting out the ole pencil and paper.

Also, I wanted to thank my classmates for sharing their experiences and helpful comments on the discussion boards and blogs, as well.

Best Regards,
Denise M. Williamson

Unit 8

Good Evening,
I just arrived in Jacksonville, Florida (where my sister lives). I am stressed out at the moment because both of my suitcases are lost. Delta airlines gave me a reference # and said, "both suitcases should arrive on the 9:00 pm flight tonight." Unfortunately, my rough draft, textbooks for both of my classes... are in my suitcases. So, I am doing the best I can for what I have to work with. ::)))))))))
I am so happy to see my sister, whom I have not seen in 12 years.
No matter what, I am going to think positive and have faith everything will turn out for the best!!!
I do not recall reading any responses to any of my posts on my blog. Of course, I am only human and I do take offense to that!!!
That is not the end of the world, yet.
I have to drive around 35-40 minutes to the airport around 8:15 pm, to pick up both of my suitcases and drive back to my sister's house and RELAX!!!!!!!!!!!! :::::::::)))))))))))))))))))0

I will give an update later this evening.

Unit 7: Peer Reviews

It is the 9th of May (Sunday) and happens to be Mother's Day, as well. I have a few thoughts I would like to jot down in relation, to peer reviews. Firstly, I believe that having one of my peers review my rough draft is definately a positive thing. Constructive criticism is essential for developing a better paper. The old saying, "two heads are better than one" is a good rule of thumb to go by when reviewing someone else's rough draft. I am a firm believer when someone else reads my rough draft, chances are they will spot any mistakes that I might not have seen. I appreciate the honest feedback of my peers. In closing, I find that having one of my peers review and critique my rough draft will prove to be beneficial in the final project or paper.
Let us switch gears from our academic mind and thoughts to flying to Dallas, Texas on Tuesday, May 11. I am going to visit my 92-year-old grandma (who is in the hospital with pneumonia). It has been 4 years since I have seen her. I am anxiously waiting to get on the plane at 6:03 am on Tuesday and will arrive in Dallas at 6:30 pm (Dallas time). I have been praying for her recovery and would appreciate any one of my peers to have her in their thoughts and prayers.
I am going to sign off for now. I will be back soon. :))
